Sorenson Impact Foundation Announces Lindsay Zizumbo as New President; Jim Sorenson to Serve as Chairman

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Sorenson Impact Foundation today announced Lindsay Zizumbo as its next President, with Jim Sorenson transitioning to Chairman of the Board.

Founded by Jim and Krista Sorenson in 2012, the Foundation was created to advance the flow of capital into innovative, scalable solutions to the world’s most pressing needs. Since inception, its investments and grants have reached more than 2.26 billion lives across 110+ countries.

A pioneer in the impact investing space, the Foundation was one of the first, and remains one of the few, foundations in the United States to move 100% of its assets into mission-aligned investments. Through philanthropic, catalytic, and market-rate strategies, the Foundation invests capital into scalable businesses and innovative initiatives that address pressing social needs and advance the impact investing ecosystem.

Lindsay Zizumbo joined Sorenson Impact in 2014 and has served as the Foundation’s Executive Director since 2018. Previously, she spent 15 years in government and public policy and later served as President of Intentional Media. In her new role, she will lead the Foundation’s strategy and long-term vision alongside its Board.

The Board is also expanding, with Eric Sorenson and Mark Ludwig joining current directors Luke Sorenson and Krista Sorenson. Ludwig is the Foundation’s first non-family director, with additional board expansion expected over time.

“When Krista and I founded the Sorenson Impact Foundation in 2012, we set out to prove something simple: where you invest your money matters. Capital could do more than generate financial returns; it could help solve some of society’s most difficult challenges at scale, without sacrificing performance to do it. That belief has guided my work for decades, from transforming access to communication for the deaf community to investing in microfinance, Pay for Success, social enterprises and impact fund managers serving underserved communities. It also led us to build the Foundation and invest in the next generation of leaders through the Sorenson Impact Institute.”

I’m incredibly proud of what this Foundation and the broader Sorenson Impact community have built, and of the role we’ve played in helping move impact investing from an emerging idea toward a more established field. Moving into the Chairman role is an exciting next chapter, one that allows me to remain deeply engaged as Lindsay steps in to lead the Foundation forward. She has been an important part of this journey for more than a decade, and I have tremendous confidence in her ability to build on what we’ve started and carry this work into the future.”

Jim Sorenson, Chairman of the Board

“Jim and Krista built this Foundation around a bold idea: that capital can create meaningful social impact while also delivering strong financial performance. I feel incredibly honored to have the opportunity to carry that vision forward.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Jim and being part of Sorenson Impact since 2014, and I’ve seen firsthand the thoughtfulness, conviction, and persistence behind the work he has built. His legacy extends well beyond this Foundation; he has helped demonstrate what is possible when you challenge conventional thinking and put capital to work differently.

As President, my responsibility is to be a thoughtful steward of that legacy while continuing to evolve the Foundation for the future. I’m deeply grateful for Jim’s trust and excited to build on the foundation he and Krista created, with the same ambition, curiosity, and commitment to proving what’s possible.”
