The Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) seeks to quantify the financial and social benefits of mental health care and demonstrate that increased investment in this area will have multiple downstream benefits for society. Across the US, mental health access is lacking and, even when available, is usually unaffordable or not reimbursed adequately; to address this, HMHI seeks to continue providing sustainable and sufficient mental health care programming.
The Sorenson Impact Institute is currently engaged in identifying and quantifying HMHI’s social and economic impact to produce a comprehensive, forward-looking monetization framework. In order to determine the social and economic outcomes linked to HMHI’s programs and services, the Institute reviewed economic evaluations and cost-benefit analyses for each clinical program and mapped the underlying social outcomes. By collecting both financial and patient data, the Institute team will build a financial model to demonstrate the fiscal value of the social impact of HMHI’s programs and services.
