BCF is the only Community Development Financial Institution focused exclusively on expanding the participation of businesses owned by socio-economically disadvantaged people in government and corporate supply chains. Their mission is to expand capital access for small businesses across the United States to advance a more inclusive and equitable society.
Sorenson Impact Institute partnered with BCF to help them develop an IMM framework and plan for tracking, reporting, and communicating their impact. New leadership in 2021 implemented changes that they hope will allow them to reach more underserved entrepreneurs. The engagement involved the development of an impact thesis, a theory of change, an IMM framework that identified a list of impact metrics to track and the frequency of collection, and an IMM plan. The IMM plan provided guidance on data collection and data reporting, including guidance for storytelling. As part of the engagement, using the data they were currently collecting but not reporting on, we prepared an Impact in Numbers slide that they could use as part of their marketing materials and to communicate their impact
